Objective:To investigate the prevalence of erectile dysfunction and its relationship with medication use and cardiovascular risk factors in a representative sample of primary care practitioners (PCPs) and non-PCPs.
Materials and methods:To evaluate the prevalence of erectile dysfunction and cardiovascular risk factors in PCPs, as defined by the International Society for Sexual Health and the International Journal of Sexual Medicine (ISVSM) guidelines.
Results:Of the 523 PCPs with a mean age of 51.9 years, there were 527 who were diagnosed with erectile dysfunction, and 537 who were diagnosed with cardiovascular risk factors.
Conclusions:A majority of PCPs were interviewed by PCPs in the sample who used cialis or Levitra as a treatment for erectile dysfunction. The prevalence of cardiovascular risk factors, including hypertension, smoking and diabetes, is lower in PCPs.

The primary outcome was the prevalence of erectile dysfunction among the patients using the erectile function domain of the International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF) at baseline. The baseline data were collected at baseline and at the visit of the study by the participants in the respective study. The data were entered into a computerized approach and entered in Microsoft Excel (Microsoft Corporation, Redmond, WA, USA). The data analysis was performed using Microsoft Excel and SPSS version 11.5. The level of statistical significance for the prevalence of erectile dysfunction and cardiovascular risk factors was defined using a non-parametric analysis. The significance level was set at p<0.05.The primary analysis was conducted using SPSS version 11.5. The statistical analyses were performed using SPSS version 11.5 and were carried out using the IBM SPSS version 13.0.1. The association between erectile dysfunction and cardiovascular risk factors was evaluated using multivariate logistic regression analysis. The adjusted hazard ratio (HR) of cardiovascular risk factors was used to evaluate the risk for erectile dysfunction.Sixty-four patients with erectile dysfunction, 36 patients with cardiovascular risk factors, and 28 healthy volunteers participated in this study. Of the 36 patients, 19 (26.3%) had a history of erectile dysfunction; 19 (26.3%) had a history of cardiovascular risk factors and 28 (64.7%) were men who used erectile function domain of the International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF). Patients who had a history of cardiovascular risk factors were excluded from the study.Highlights
